In addition, programs sometimes evolve due to changes in leadership or a change in focus.  We visit with scores of programs to understand the best “fit” for them at a given point in time - we do not just work with a handful of schools.  Often the programs that we suggest will tend to specialize in specific areas, such as either emotional growth issues, aspergers syndrome and high-functioning autism, substance use, or learning disabilities.  Some are college preparatory schools with high academic standards.  There is, however, a wide spectrum of these different focus areas and many of these programs serve kids with a variety of combinations of different conditions.

Your child may, for example, suffer from depression and also have a learning disability or may have no academic problems.  A child who has substance abuse issues may or may not have social difficulties.  Our goal is to help you find schools and programs that will provide the best environment for your child and is “geared up” for your child’s particular needs.

As we travel to investigate and assess these programs we are able to understand the often fine differences between them, and thus able to guide you on your journey as to which programs to explore.  There are no guarantees, given the nature of the problem, but we work hard to help you increase your chances of success.

You could be taking the first step towards recovery for your child.

Adolescence can be a particularly challenging time, but there is help for "troubled teens" and you are not alone in having these problems.  Right Direction is a resource service to help you select a program that can help your child and restore normalcy to your family.

We work with parents of "troubled teens" to assist them in finding the best possible private programs to help put their child back on the right path. This typically involves therapeutic wilderness programs, therapeutic boarding schools, or residential schools.

Right Direction was formed in 2007 as an educational resource service for parents of "troubled teens". We specialize in teenagers suffering from emotional and/or behavioral problems.

There are many therapeutic schools and programs in the United States today, some of which are easy to find and others that are somewhat below the radar.

Julia Frankel - Director

Julia Frankel moved to the United States from England in 1993, having previously spent sixteen months living in Connecticut.

She has five children, two of whom attended therapeutic boarding schools and one of whom also attended a therapeutic wilderness program.

This experience led many people to reach out to her for help with their own teenagers.

As her knowledge and experience grew, she realized that she could help other families struggling with these problems to find the best programs to fit the needs of their children.
